Our Story
The Legacy of Number 40 In the heart of the Metro East Area of St. Louis, Missouri, a powerful legacy thrives through the unwavering determination of Brandon Hogg and his deep connection to his late friend, Jeron Lewis. Their bond forged on the basketball court at the University of Southern Indiana became the seed for a remarkable journey that continues to impact the community today. Brandon Hogg, founder and president of Ball Hogg Academy and The Forty Foundation, never imagined that his path would intersect so profoundly with Jeron Lewis's dreams. As college basketball teammates, they shared victories, defeats, and the unbreakable camaraderie that only teammates understand. Jeron, with his infectious smile and relentless passion for helping youth, dreamt of establishing a Boys and Girls Club in his hometown of Fort Wayne. His vision was a testament to his belief in the power of community and mentorship, particularly for underprivileged youth who needed guidance and support.
Tragically, Jeron Lewis's life was cut short by an unexpected athletic heart attack while playing the sport he loved. He wore the number 40 on his jersey, a number that became synonymous with his spirit and determination both on and off the court. In the wake of his passing, Brandon Hogg resolved to honor Jeron's memory by realizing their shared dream. He founded this non-profit organization as a living tribute to Jeron Lewis's legacy and his unwavering commitment to youth.
Although we are just beginning, we are dedicated to fulfilling Jeron's vision, providing a safe haven where children and teenagers can learn, play, and grow under the guidance of caring mentors. Through basketball, scholarships, educational programs, and community outreach initiatives, we strive to empower the next generation and instill in them the values of leadership, perseverance, and community service that Jeron exemplified.
Each day, Brandon Hogg and our team work tirelessly to ensure that Jeron Lewis's legacy continues to inspire and uplift. We have seen dreams ignited, and futures brightened, all because of the enduring spirit of number 40. As we look to the future, we remain steadfast in our mission to make a meaningful difference in the Metro East area and beyond, driven by the belief that every child deserves a chance to thrive and succeed. Join us in honoring Jeron Lewis's legacy. Together, we can continue to write a story of hope, resilience, and community that echoes far beyond the basketball court where it all began.
